WiserAdvisor review: what advisors pay and what they get

WiserAdvisor charges advisors a membership plus a flat fee for each lead, and owns Indyfin and the Paladin Registry. Its three public documents give three price ranges: $40 to $300 a lead on its disclosure page, from $125 a month plus $40 to $400 a lead on its sales page, and $45 to $5,600 a month plus $20 to $350 a lead in its June 2026 SEC brochure.

WiserAdvisor is one of the oldest lead services for financial advisors, with a lead history going back to 1998. Advisors pay a membership plus a flat fee for each qualified lead, billed at the end of the month, whether or not the prospect becomes a client. Its own disclosure page puts leads at $40 to $300 and doesn’t state the membership price. Its sales page says pricing starts at $125 a month plus $40 to $400 a lead. Its SEC brochure, dated June 8, 2026, gives the widest range: a membership of $45 to $5,600 a month and $20 to $350 a lead. Each prospect goes to one to three advisors. WiserAdvisor suits a firm that wants a steady flow of mid-market leads at a lower price per lead than SmartAsset, and can call fast.

Who owns WiserAdvisor, and what it owns

WiserAdvisor is a brand of Respond.com, Inc., based in Fairfax, Virginia. The company is registered with the SEC as an investment adviser under the name WiserAdvisor Paladin (CRD 321249), and its June 2026 brochure says it is principally owned by Atul Jain. Its CEO is Rishi Bharathan.

It has bought two well-known names:

  • Paladin Registry. WiserAdvisor bought Paladin’s lead generation service in a sale completed in February 2019 and announced on September 4, 2019. Paladin kept a separate digital marketing business. See our Paladin Registry review.
  • Indyfin. WiserAdvisor acquired Indyfin, a client review platform, in a deal that closed in late July 2023 and was announced August 2, 2023. See our Indyfin review.

The brochure lists the sites prospects arrive through: wiseradvisor.com, paladinregistry.com, indyfin.com, financialplanners.net, financialadvisor.net, retirementplanning.net, rothira.org and a further advisor-search site. In April 2025 it launched WiserAdvisor Growth, which sells its leads and Indyfin’s reviews together.

How leads work

A consumer answers questions on one of these sites. WiserAdvisor suggests advisers who fit and passes the contact details on. Its Growth page says each prospect “is verified by WiserAdvisor”, that “we match each prospect to 1-3 advisors”, and that leads arrive by email and text within the radius or counties you set. Membership includes listings on six of its sites.

On vetting, the brochure says WiserAdvisor looks at an adviser’s experience, assets under management, disciplinary and bankruptcy history, registration status, and whether they’re fee-only or fee-based, and that it doesn’t accept representatives with material disciplinary issues.

What it costs

WiserAdvisor publishes more about price than most lead services, but its documents don’t agree.

DocumentMembershipPer leadOther
Advisor disclosure page (undated, read October 2026)Annual membership, price not stated$40 to $300Billed monthly; pricing can change “at its discretion”
WiserAdvisor Growth page (read October 2026)From $125 a month$40 to $400Enterprise pricing available
SEC brochure, June 8, 2026$45 to $5,600 a month$20 to $350$400 per appointment set, or a share of fees from referred clients

The price per lead depends on the services the prospect wants, the services you offer and your minimum. One adviser’s disclosure on WiserAdvisor’s site shows the schedule in practice: $100 a lead for prospects with $100,000 to $250,000, rising to $300 for prospects with more than $3 million. That disclosure also says WiserAdvisor “has a financial incentive to present certain Advisors based on the amount of fees” committed.

Turn that into a client. WiserAdvisor doesn’t publish a close rate. At $150 a lead, a mid-band price on that schedule, a 1 in 20 close puts a client at $3,000 in leads, and 1 in 10 at $1,500, before the membership. Kitces’ 2026 study put the typical cost to win a client across all marketing at $2,551. A planning client at the $4,500 median (fee report) pays back $3,000 in about eight months.

Terms

  • Billing. Leads are billed at the end of each month.
  • Price changes. The disclosure says WiserAdvisor can change its pricing structure at its discretion.
  • Not published. Contract length, minimum spend, cancellation notice and credits for bad leads aren’t stated in any of the three documents. Ask for them in writing.

Track record

WiserAdvisor’s brochure reports no legal or disciplinary events. The company says it facilitated “over $15 billion in qualified investor referrals” in 2024 and saw a 120% rise in lead volume since the pandemic (April 2025 release). Those are company figures.

Its consumer sites are visible where prospects ask. In our study of 600 AI answers, wiseradvisor.com was cited in 24% of Perplexity’s answers about finding an advisor (study), and Kitces’ 2026 study listed WiserAdvisor among the third-party review sites advisors use.

Where WiserAdvisor is the better choice

  • Lower price per lead than SmartAsset. $100 to $300 a lead on the schedule above, against a reported $150 to $300 or more at SmartAsset, with each prospect shared with one to three advisors rather than about three.
  • Mid-market prospects. Lead tiers start at $100,000, so a firm serving mass-affluent clients can buy in its own band.
  • Reviews in the same bundle. WiserAdvisor Growth pairs leads with Indyfin’s client reviews.
  • Fee-based advisers. They can join. They can’t join Wellspent.

Where Wellspent is the better choice

  • One known price. $89 a month, cancel any time, against three published ranges that run from $45 to $5,600 a month before any lead.
  • No race. A prospect who writes from your record chose you, and no one else got their name.
  • No budget weighting. Your record ranks on fit to the question, with no paid boosts (methodology).
  • Built for where people ask now. Your verified record is read by AI assistants and search, a monthly report shows who they recommend for your ideal clients, and quarterly press placement with media partners is included.

Bottom line

WiserAdvisor is a long-running, mid-priced lead service that owns Paladin Registry and Indyfin, with a clean regulatory record and more price disclosure than most. The catch is that its documents disagree, the membership can run far higher than the entry price, and every lead is billed whether it signs or not, shared with up to two other advisors. If you can call fast and know your close rate, it can work. If you’d rather keep one fixed cost, start with your record. Questions

How much does WiserAdvisor charge per lead?

It depends on the document. Its advisor disclosure says $40 to $300 per qualified lead plus an annual membership, without stating the membership price. Its WiserAdvisor Growth page says pricing starts at $125 a month plus $40 to $400 a lead. Its SEC brochure dated June 8, 2026 gives a membership of $45 to $5,600 a month and $20 to $350 a lead.

Are WiserAdvisor leads exclusive?

No. WiserAdvisor Growth says it matches each prospect to 1 to 3 advisors.

Do you pay for WiserAdvisor leads that don't become clients?

Yes. Leads are billed at the end of each month at a flat fee per qualified lead, and one adviser's disclosure says fees are paid whether or not the prospect becomes a client.

Does WiserAdvisor own Indyfin and Paladin Registry?

Yes. WiserAdvisor bought Paladin's lead generation service in a sale completed in February 2019 and announced that September, and acquired Indyfin's matching platform in July 2023. Its June 2026 SEC brochure lists paladinregistry.com and indyfin.com among its own sites.

Is WiserAdvisor only for fee-only advisors?

No. Its SEC brochure says it considers whether an adviser is fee-only or fee-based during vetting, and doesn't accept representatives with material disciplinary issues. Fee-based advisers can join.
